Hey all,

I'm no longer a moderator here at Pabook. This actually happened a couple of weeks ago, but with the holidays I never had the time to sit down and compose a decent post about it.

A few weeks ago I talked to Pab about stepping down, and after a very brief exit interview (Him: "Are the forums still ok?" Me: "Yes."), he accepted my resignation.

I've been a member here for years, and a mod for a good part of that time, and it's been a great experience. I'm looking forward to my time here in the future being more casual, and not always feeling like I'm "on call."

Anyway, I wanted to thank all the members here for continuing to make this a great place to hang out.

If I may recycle the joke I made before:

http://www.richmolna...the%20force.wav

:)

When things get really hairy here, we'll come knocking on the door of your beach house asking for help, and you'll prey that your moderating-suit still fits. [color=#000000;background:#000000' onmouseover="this.style.color='#ffffff';" onmouseout="this.style.color=this.style.color='#000000']idunno, these are the things I find funny[/color]

"Your vote will decide who answers that 3 am call..."

Sorry, ALC, I'm turning my ringer off. :P

I'd like to echo some of the sediment expressed by Pab when he announced Sandman's previous resignation, four years ago. Unfortunately, Pab said it really well and I can't conjure up anything to match it. See for yourself. It all applies on this occasion just as well as it did on the last.

Now, if I may speak on behalf of the moderating team the long-standing members myself, thanks for everything Sandman, and I hope you don't drift too far away. Enjoy the lighter side! :flowers:

It's a shame to see you step down, but I guess you only have a limited amount of time. Sometimes it's nice to be able to cruise without the responsibility.

It's a good thing you're sticking around

That's really the reason for it. Compared to a few years ago I'm a lot busier and have a lot more responsibility so when I come here to hang out I just want to relax.

Thanks for the sentiments. And I'll definitely still be here, maybe even more often than recently.

^You run your own business, right?
Shit, it's amazing you have time to visit here at all, let alone mod.

Yeah, I keep pretty busy. Business was booming earlier this year, then the Phoenix summer (slow for businesses generally) followed by the economic crash kinda made things a lot more unstable. I've spent the last few months making tons of new plans for my practice, and I'm incredibly excited about hitting the ground running in '09.

Money's still tight - '08 was only the second year of running the business full time - but I'm lucky to have been blessed with a ton of creativity, which is a real boon when running a business. Also, I've been dealing with mildly debilitating chronic pain issues for the last few years, which is a real drag on my productivity and energy, but I've been really aggressive and proactive about getting my health back this year so as my energy returns I'm putting all of that back into the business.

As for Pabook, I know I act like a clown around here a lot, but I've always taken this place very seriously, as anyone who knows me beyond my public persona can attest to. I've tried, in many ways, to influence the feel of the forums, to maintain the spirit and ideals that Pab instilled in the forums when he created them, to learn from my mistakes, and to take the leadership skills I learned from here back to the real world. I've changed a lot over the years that I've been here, and everyone here had a part in that.

You the shit sandman.
I mean it from the bottom of my black, twisted heart.
You've been nothing but a good dude and a cool, mellow-headed moderator. I feel like I just wrote an epitaph. Sorry. You still are the shit, you're just not a moderator anymore.

That is all.

Wow. Reading that made me quite emotional. Though I don't recall writing it (maybe I had Sandman do it :P ), it's all as appropriate now as it was then.

Thanks again for your awesomeness Sandman. :flowers:

Thanks again for all the kind words, Pab and others.

You know, I'd forgotten that I'd resigned from modship then came back. Also, I don't remember why I decided to re-enlist as a mod, but i suspect it had something to do with getting around the flood control.

Does it get around the quote tag limit as well? If so, where do I sign up?
