I've just completed the largest forum restructuring in, well, a very long time if not ever. Here's a breakdown of the main changes:

• Music, Movies & TV, Gaming and The Arts have been combined into Media
  
• Real Life™ has been combined with Disputus*
  
• Member Introductions topics have been combined into a pinned topic in Yadda Yadda
  
• The now-redundant categories Entertainment and Serious have been removed
  
• The Shoutbox has returned to its roots as a topic in a forum in a category**

Some of these changes have been a long time coming. The reason for all the combining is that I felt the current forum activity levels just weren't supporting the somewhat fractured forum structure we've had for the past few years. Hopefully this streamlining will lead to making the site a lot more friendly to navigate, and in turn encourage more posting.

* Due to the nature of Disputus, that forum is already appropriate for topics that would have previously been posted in Real Life™. The description of the forum has been re-worded to make this a little more clear. Member blogs are another existing alternative for such topics.

** The shoutbox mod just wasn't working out from my point of view. It had too many little annoyances, and made upgrading the forum software harder than it should have been. With some incredibly shoddy PHP and MySQL work I managed to convert all the shouts made in the mod version into a new topic in the forums. That topic is now the shoutbox.
