I was reading a review for it, then I wanted to bang my head. The reviewer kept comparing it to PC/Xbox formats and how it let him/her down a bit. NO SHIT! It's for the DS you fucking elitist.

Edit: Finished playing through, it's such an aweome game. I hope they make a sequel, with the same depth of story as the original. I think Geralt is probably my favorite fictional character, after Gandalf. Maybe I should try reading the novel(s) that they based the game on.

I'm finding the gameplay itself to be frustrating for a number of reasons, however:
1. The world map/travel system sucks. It's like a crappy rip-off of the system used in Fallout/Fallout 2. You can't actually walk from one location to the next, instead you click on a location on the map and your party automatically goes there, potentially getting randomly attacked along the way. Unlike the Fallout/Fallout 2 system, you cannot just click anywhere on the world map and go there (which was what made the approach work in Fallout). You can only click on specific locations. And once you have selected one, you can't change your mind until after you get there (and sometimes not even then, depending upon what you clicked on). Overall it's just very unsatisfying to use.
2. The game has severe balance issues. Maybe I'm just playing it wrong, but it seems like swords and daggers are the worst possible weapons to use. In fact, it seems like the progression goes from mages, who get magic staffs that never miss, have long range, decent damage, and high armor-piercing, along with a bunch of spells that do very high damage and cause a variety of other nasty effects at the same time, on to archers, who get similarly long range, damage that is on par with most melee weapons, and tons of special attacks that almost always work and cause effects almost as nasty as the mage, and then finally on to swordsmen, who don't really do any more damage than archers, but also are useless at range, and whose abilities aren't nearly as useful up close either.
3. Combat strategy is repetitive. Mostly due to the balance issues, pretty much every battle devolves into "rush straight at the enemy mage and use everything you have to kill them. Ignore all the guys with swords because swords are useless anyways. Marvel at how the archers consistently screw you over with 'Pinning Shot' despite your heavy armor. If the mage isn't dead within the first 5 seconds of combat, reload and try again, because you're going to lose". It's not very fun or satisfying.
4. The AI screws you over too. If there is a group of enemies standing in close proximity to each other, you can have your archer/mage attack them from long range, and only the targeted enemy will come after you. Try to rush them with your swordsman, and the whole group piles onto him at once.
5. They nag you in the game itself to purchase additional downloadable content. That's just bad form.
...it's like the developers of the game have a grudge against warrior-type characters, or something.
But in other news, Stalker - Call of Pripyat is out now, and Witcher 2 will be coming at some point, so I just want to finish up Dragon Age and move on to some hopefully more enjoyable titles.

Although Strelok promises to answer all your questions, but then just flies away on the helicopter without answering anything. The bastard.
