I have made the Gulf War II forum visible again. You probably thought it was long gone but really it has just been hidden all this time.

The question now is what to do with it. I'm not leaving a hidden forum there forever, but I don't want a locked one visible either. The choice is this - place all the topics in another forum for archive purposes or just delete them all.

Opinions welcomed.

I really was disappointed when the forum shut down, but saw it was necessary. This is cool, the arguments will be fun to peruse.

peruse, yes, but continue?

the lecture i saw by hans blix yesterday (hooray for guest lectures at uni) was very interesting made the "scientific" backing very, very clear, and helped me think of the war in a different context.

Just to make it clear: even if the topics stay and get moved somewhere they will remain locked.

I'm leaning towards keeping them but I don't know where to put them all. The best thing to do would be to move them according to where they best belong but that could take some time.

If they're locked, I really don't see a reason to keep them. It might be nice to leave the forum up for a couple days so everyone can have a look at the old discussions, but I don't see a reason they should be moved elsewhere if they are just going to sink to the bottom anyway.

Because that way they would still be there somewhere if anyone wanted them. They would still come up in searches for instance.

Create an Archives category and put old forums in there with no posting abilities.

Well that is how it is now isn't it? The reason I don't want it there is that it takes up room which seems pointless if it a dead forum.

I like Phily's idea. There is no good reason to move or delete those threads, but they should still be read-only.

I'd actually like to see a sort of spring cleaning of the forum. There's a lot of stuff here that I have posted that I personally would like to see gone (for instance, all of the posts about my roommate issues, or various dating problems). I'm sure others feel the same way about their own stuff. I'm not saying we should delete everything old, but... well, I don't know what I'm saying.

I didn't look at the main page, I just cam straight here. As it stands atm I think it's good. It takes u an inch of vertical screen space that noone really catres about. There are 16 forums on the main page anyway, one more wont hurt.

I said in the first post that they were either being moved or deleted because I didn't want to keep them that way.

The decision has since been made to keep but move the topics. Teews has kindly taken care of that matter.

Thanks for all your input.
