Rules & Guidelines

General

General rules and guidelines for the community, please bear them in mind at all times.
  • Spam, flaming and other disruptive behaviour is not welcome.
  • Give new topics a relevant title that suggests what the topic is about.
  • Please respect the community staff - they do their best to keep things running smoothly.
  • You can post thongs/bikinis and stuff, but please no boobs, manboobs, bare ass, or anything full frontal.
  • This isn't the right place for warez/hacks/software piracy, keep it legal.
  • Please read and observe the Disputus and Real Life rules, displayed at the top of those forums.
  • Post new topics where they belong. e.g a movie topic goes in Movies, a video game one goes in Games.
  • Keep topics vaguely on topic, for very off topic or non topic posting check out the Shoutbox, and the IRC Chat.
Above all else, may respect and common sense prevail. If you have any questions feel free to PM a member of staff. Persistant rule-breaking will result in warnings being given and in extreme cases removal of posting rights.

Debate

These are extra rules governing debate. They apply especially to Disputus but also apply to other forums wherever debate may occur.
  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even if you disagree with it.
  • Posting the same viewpoint over and over is tedious for others reading the thread. Please don't repeat yourself if you've already stated your position and have nothing new to add.
  • Debate is not necessarily about "winning an argument." If someone disagrees with you, don't badger them.
  • Please treat other members with respect. All the usual forum rules about flaming apply (in other words, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard" is not considered a valid rebuttal).
Images

For images wider than 800 pixels please provide a link instead of showing the image directly in your post. You can do this by using the URL tag in place of the IMG tag. This prevents the page layout from being broken by images going off the side of the page.

You may upload image attachments wider than 800 pixels as they are automatically displayed using a small thumbnail.

Signatures

The signature controls can be accessed from [My controls > Edit Signature].
  • Images are not permitted in signatures. Instead use the avatar feature for displaying an image with each of your posts, or create a link to the image instead.
  • Text should occupy no more than 75 pixels vertically. That's about 5 lines of signature text at the default size. You can use IPB code to change formatting, create links and so on.
  • Signature content must not breach any of the other rules of the community or it will be removed by staff without notice.
Avatars

The avatar controls can be accessed from [My controls > Edit Avatar Settings].
  • You may use gif, png or jpeg files as an avatar. Dynamic images and flash files are not allowed.
  • Avatars can be internal (uploaded or selected from those pre-installed) or external (loaded from a URL). When using an avatar from an external location make sure it is under 100KB so it won't take too long to load for users with slow connections.
  • Avatar content must not breach any of the other rules of the community or it will be removed by staff without notice.
File Attachments

Attachments can be included with posts in most of the forums. Please make sure the attachment is relevant to the thread where it is posted. Filesize limits are according to your member group.

In order to preserve bandwidth, file uploads will only work when posted and accessed from within Pabook.net. Attachment content must not breach any of the other rules of the community or it will be removed by staff without notice.

Blogs

All the rules that apply to the forums also apply to members' blogs. In addition:
  • Your current username must be displayed somewhere in your blog title or subtitle. This is so people reading your blog through the website or RSS feeds can tell whose blog they're reading.
